Tonight is college presentation night in the G-Star Studios Sound Stage 1.  A representative from Lynn University will be here at 6:00 PM.  Lynn U. is in Boca Raton and it is a private university.  It also has an outstanding ESE program.  Students please attend with a parent or guardian.

There will be a PTSA meeting tonight in the Commissary (Bldg. F) at 6:30 PM.  Please come out and support your PTSA.  They do great things for our school!

A MAJOR NOTE OF WARNING!  This past weekend the media broke the stories about something that can affect your student’s future in college and in the job market.  It has become common knowledge that many businesses are looking into job applicants’ social media backgrounds such as FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.  Once something is in cyberspace it can be accessed even if you erase it.  Based on what a business discovers they may deny you a job for inappropriate postings.  The national news this week has now noted that this trend has become standard procedure at many colleges.  That’s right, a student may be denied entrance into a college because of the use of profanity, inappropriate photos, and inappropriate comments about other people posted in social media.  The most difficult part of this new process is the student (or job applicant) may never be told why they are being rejected, they just are.  Parents PLEASE have this conversation with your student about what they post on social media.  It could have far reaching negative effects on their future lives if they post inappropriate material.

Open House December 3rd for January Student Applicants
Each year at the end of our first semester we hold an Open House for students from other schools in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades who would like to leave their school and enroll at G-Star.  There are spaces available.  Our Open House for these students who would like to switch schools beginning now or in January is Tuesday, December 3rd at 6 PM in our G-Star Studios Sound Stage 1.  So, if you know of any good students who would like to come to G-Star, please invite them to the Open House on December 3rd.  We would love to meet them!
