G-Star Students Recognized at Forum Club of the Palm Beaches with CNN Reporter
The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches held its October meeting at the
Palm Beach Convention Center with keynote speaker CNN chief political
correspondent Candy Crowley. The Edward R.
Murrow Award winner and moderator of the second Barack Obama and Mitt Romney
presidential debate, Ms. Crowley hosts her own Washington insider Sunday
morning talk show, State of the Union with Candy Crowley. Fifteen G-Star students from the school’s
Advanced Placement Social Studies classes were introduced before the audience of
700 of some of Palm Beach County’s most politically connected power brokers
. Ms. Crowley personally came over to
the student’s table and introduced herself, and chatted with them in a friendly,
informal soirée. The introduction by the Master of Ceremonies
stated that G-Star is “the largest film, digital animation and performing arts
high school in the nation,” and that G-Star students Jason Clamson and
Dayana Gonzales would be asking the first two questions of Ms. Crowley. Both questions elicited long responses, one
of them almost ten minutes in length.
The students, attending teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal and
Founder were asked to stand and were introduced to enthusiastic applause. After
an exquisite luncheon, Ms. Crowley spoke at length about the grid lock in
Washington, the success or failure of Obamacare and its political implications
for the Democratic and Republican parties, Hilary Clinton’s chances of winning
the Democratic nomination for President, and Iran’s nuclear enrichment
program. When the event ended all of the
students were invited up on the podium to have their picture taken with Ms.
Crowley. Many of the attendees
graciously came over to the G-Star table to talk to the students and
congratulated them on their professionalism and decorum, and expressed
admiration for the quality of the education and impeccable reputation of the
school.
