ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 16, 2015

 
·         Theatre 101: Are you a writer? The Theatre 101 is coming up in April! Write a sketch, scene, or monologue for submission. Submissions from all grades are eligible. Your submissions are due by March 13th. Drop off your submission to the H Building Theatre Office.

 ·         Yearbook Ads: Attention Seniors, there is still room in the yearbook for you to purchase ads. We offer personal ads for you to purchase ads. We offer personal ads for your own photos and a message from your family and friends. We also offer business ads for local and family businesses. Ad prices range from $50 to $200 and the deadline for submissions is February 20th. See Mr. Weiss in Room J-219 for ad forms and additional information.

·         2015 Yearbook: The 2015 yearbook is in its final stages of production and it promises to be the best one yet. There are still books available at the current price of $65 each. See Mr. Weiss in room J-219 to pre-order your copy now, while supplies last.

·         2015 International Kinetic Art Event: The G-Star School was well received at the 2015 International Kinetic Art Event and Symposium in Boynton Beach. The Art Club students portrayed a G-Star magazine cover and modeled clothes from recycled materials depicting magazine social issues.

·         Scholastic Art Competition: Congratulations to Eli Dreyfuss whose gold key photograph titled “Young Eyes” was selected for display on Macy’s Art Wall in City Place. This is quite an honor, so if you’re visiting City Place anytime this month, be sure to check out his photo display outside of Macys.

All G-Star students “key” works will be on exhibition February 13th through February 21st at The Armory Arts Center on Parker Avenue – this is just south of the Kravis Center.

·         Scholastic Art Completion: Artwork for the Scholastic Arts Competition will be on exhibition for the Gold and Silver winners at the Armory Arts center beginning this Friday and ending on February 21st.

Come out and support the following winners:

                Miles Stanley, Christina Brown, Zach Weinberg, Jesse Miller, Lauryn Eisenstein,

                Eli Dreyfuss, and Shaun Bessman.               

                Congratulations to our outstanding G-Star artists! 

·         2015 V-Day Showcase: Tickets are on sale now for the 2015 V-Day Showcase. The show is centered on female empowerment and the proceeds will be split between the G-Star Theatre Department and the V-Day organization which fights violence against women and girls. Tickets are $10, and the show will take place on February 18th at 7PM in the Black Box.  

·         Night under the Lights: For the first time ever, G-Star is throwing its first club collaboration event. The Eco Club, Thespian Club, Prom Committee and Yearbook are presenting you with a “Night Under the Lights.” 

Get ready for a spectacular night including movies, karaoke, trivia with cash prizes, and smores!

     SAT and ALT: Juniors, now is the time to register for the SAT and ALT. Test dates and website are on the G-Star website under “guidance” and “paper copies” in front of guidance.
