Welcome back parents, guardians, and students. We had a
wonderful first week of school. Last
week our students had their pictures taken, online course change request forms
were activated, XScream and Student Government had their first meeting, and we
had our first fire drill.
This week students will be receiving planners during their
English classes. The planners are a wonderful tool and help your students with
time management. Please take a moment to
read over the rules and regulations found in the front section of the planner
with your student. If you are unsure of
G-Star polices such as bullying, dress code, and/or phone usage you will also
find the student handbook and policies on our website gstarschool.org.
Now that we are in hurricane season, please note that we
follow the Palm Beach County School District in regards to school closings. Please watch your local news for information. If
the district is closed so is G-Star School of the Arts.
Some dates to write on your calendar:
Monday 8/25 National Honor Society Officers meet in room
J210 at the beginning of lunch.

Thank
you Parents & Students!
We want to thank all of you for making our
first week a successful one. The parents
that are driving their students to school in the morning are wonderful. Seldom have we seen the car line at drop-off
on time and clear by 7:30 AM. We can’t tell
you how much it means to our teachers and fellow students to have children in
their seats on time. When a student comes
late they disrupt the entire class that they enter and the teacher has to
accommodate them by starting instructions all over. So thank you, parents, for bringing your student
on time!
School photographs are being taken Thursday
and Friday, so put on your best outfit, do your hair in the bright color of
your choice – and get your picture taken!
Our bus waiting list is almost
finished. Thank you for your
patience. There are still some students that
may have to wait a short time more. If
you still have trouble with getting your student on a bus, call 561-386-6275
and ask for Mr. Hauptner. He will work
with the bus company to expedite a seat for your student.
We all know it is extremely hot! Students like to wear summer clothes. However, please make sure your student is
dressed in proper dress code. Please don’t
forget to make sure when they leave your home they are dressed appropriately.
It is going to be a great first week – one of
the best we’ve ever had! Keep up the
good work everyone!

We’re off to another great school year!
HELLO,
PARENTS!
In preparation for your students to start
school next week, we have some items for you to be aware of that happen at the
beginning of every school year – especially in the first 30 days. The key word her is “patience”. Therefore, please read this closely.
1.
If your child is on a “Wait List” for the buses, please be patient. Many names that have rolled over from last
year’s rider list may not be riding the bus this year. They may still be on the rider’s list. It will take at least two weeks to see who
physically shows up at the bus stops and who does not. Those that don’t will be removed from the
list and students on the “Wait List” will be given their seat. If your child is on the Wait List you may have to make arrangements to drive them until a bus seat is available.
2.
We have double the traffic at the school in the first two weeks because so many parents drive
their students to school and pick up in the afternoon. This is fine, however, please be patient. There will be long lines of traffic. The traffic will ease up by the end of the
second week and run much more smoothly.
3.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF OR PICK UP ON PRAIRIE RD. The police will ticket you and the neighbors
complain. It is a dangerous street for
drop off. Also, please do not stop on
Congress Ave. You must turn in somewhere
to drop off your student. Please be
careful.
4.
Please drop off your student no later than 7:10 AM or the long line will
prevent you from getting your student to school on time.
We’re off to another great school year!

PRESS RELEASE:
G-Star
School of the Arts sets new enrollment record!
Palm Springs, FL (August
5, 2014) - The G-Star School of the Arts for Film, Animation and Performing Arts
has garnered its largest enrollment in the school’s history for this coming
school year. “The School District has
increased its marketing and the expanding charter school movement presented an
opportunity for us to reexamine our own marketing,” says Greg Hauptner, the
school’s Founder and CEO. “We have so
many unique programs here that we take for granted and haven’t told the public
about. We felt it was time to get the
word out.” Hauptner spoke of items such
as G-Star is the only high school that produces a professional student produced
Feature Film each year from script to screen to world premiere. Every step of a true Hollywood feature film
is followed. It is written, directed,
produced by and stars G-Star students. The
school has done this for 11 years. Many
high schools have theater acting and so does G-Star. However, G-Star has had the top two actors in
the Pathfinders Awards two out of the past three years – the best in Palm Beach
County. G-Star has the only “Acting for
Camera” course. “There’s a world of
difference between the two, particularly when a close-up of your face is 12
feet high on a movie screen,” states Hauptner.
G-Star is the only high school located on the back lot of a major commercial
movie studio, G-Star Studios, which the school owns. It is here that many students work on major
feature films, commercials and music videos with famous stars as Bob Dylan, Rod
Stewart, Jimmy Buffett and Tiger Woods; and companies such as Rolex, Nike and EA Sports. “We teach Hollywood Special Effects Makeup. Our entire Special Visual Effects in 3-D
Animation Course was developed at our school on site by the same film industry professionals
who did the visual effects for Transformers,
Pirates of the Caribbean, and Captain
America. No one else has ever done
that,” continues Hauptner. “The fact
that we are an ‘A’ rated ‘High Performing Charter School’ with an academic
program ranked in the top 1.2% of all high schools in the nation by the
Washington Post makes us a truly unique school.”
