Over 66,000 views of our G-Star NewsBlog!

Hello Everyone,
G-Star School of the Arts (Palm Springs, FL) is a very patriotic school.  We love our troops and our Veterans because we owe them so much.  As a school, we have strived this past year to create programs that bring our students, Veterans, and Holocaust Survivors closer together to teach our students that "Freedom Isn't Free".  We have created "Into the Past: The World War II Experience" project and our "Adopt a Veteran, Fallen Hero or Holocaust Survivor" program to accomplish this goal.  PBG Magazine has published an article about one of our students who "adopted" a very special soldier, Senator and Presidential Candidate Bob Dole.  You'll find the story here (please cut & paste):

We wish to thank Senator Dole for his support for our project and for the kindness he has shown our student, Madison Lillard.
For more information on the "Into the Past: The World War II Experience" project please visit www.atagency.net.  We are actively fundraising for the first building, a 6,000 sq. ft. Cultural Educational Center designed after the WWII Canteen that existed on Palm Beach on Worth Ave. from 1941-1945.  This building will be a theater that seats 400 and a dining facility for fundraising, student school use for theater, assemblies, and cafeteria. It will be an income producing entity for the school by renting it out to the community; and it will be offered free to Veteran's and Holocaust Survivor's groups for seminars, social and fundraising events, and theater events.

June 5 2014 - Over 63,000 views on G-Star's Newsblog.

G-Star students have won the Pathfinder Award for Best Actor in Palm Beach County for two out of the past three years.  This year’s winner, Kyle Douglas, wrote the letter below:

Dear Mr. Hauptner,

There are absolutely no words to describe the time I have spent in this amazing school with my fellow amazing students and your amazing faculty.  For the past 4 years I have spent more time at G-Star than I actually have inside my own home.  To be completely honest, I came here knowing very little about the school and if I would like it or not.  I wanted to go to a school that I can have the opportunity to learn about acting.  I received a letter in the mail and figured it was fate and so I applied and was accepted.

I started this amazing journey 4 years ago and I have changed tremendously throughout the process. Though my years here I have never been bullied or treated without care or respect.  And I can say otherwise for the school I was in previously to G-Star.  I believe the staff has made the biggest impact on my high school career here at G-Star.  Whenever I had a bad day or I felt confused, or I was hungry because I missed lunch or I just needed to talk, there were teachers who would sacrifice their own time to help me.

This goes right into where I was meant to be at G-Star.  I wanted to know more about acting and learn the field.  I enrolled in Acting 1-4.  Thankfully I did this and discovered what I would be doing for the rest of my life.  The acting program is 10 times more rigorous and intensive than most high school acting programs in the nation.  We learn at a college level and it excels us to be the best artists we can.  Like most actors who decide to go into this field, I received a significant amount of pressure from family members to not pursue the field.  With the professional and emotional help of my acting teachers I stayed focused and did what I knew was right and continued my passion.  I am so excited and happy to say that G-Star has given me the courage to apply to University of the Arts, Southern Methodist University, and California Institute of the Arts, and get accept into each and every one of them.  These schools are amazingly prestigious and shined upon greatly in the acting world.  Without G-Star I would not be able to say I will be going to Southern Methodist University on a FULL-RIDE scholarship.  G-Star has helped me greatly and there are no words to express my greatest gratification for it.  Thank you so much, for everything.

From a genuinely grateful G-Star Alum,

Kyle Douglas
