How G-Star News Works:  When you view the G-Star News on our home page you will see the latest items for viewing on the screen just as you see this notation now.  However, it may not be the only news item for that day.  If two or more news items are published on the same day, to view them you must scroll down and click on the news item headline to view it.  They are all arranged by date.  You also can go back and view news items from previous weeks or months as time goes by.  So when you view the G-Star News please remember to always scroll down to look at other posts for that day.  We want to bring an important item back up that was posted yesterday that many parents may have missed.  It is shown below:

“Parent Email and Text Signup!”  Let us send the latest information directly to you by email or by text.  Should an emergency occur we can contact you right away, or perhaps a reminder on a school event or PTSA meeting, etc.  Go to our school web site at: www.gstarschool.org and scroll down the home page until you reach “Parent Email and Text Signup” and fill it out.

Good Morning!  We are very proud to announce that our first week opening school this year was the best we’ve had in all our eleven years!  The students are wonderful, the staff is wonderful, and our parents have the patience of saints.  Thanks to all of you.  The Administration and many caring teachers worked very long hours over the summer to make our opening smooth.  Most of all, our sincere thanks goes to our maintenance crew.  Without their diligent hard work we could not have opened.  Our parents dropping off and picking up students traffic is easing up and flowing better each day.  There are two issues that we need to work on: 1. Parents please arrive 10 minutes earlier if you can.  If you reach the school after 7:10 AM you will be caught in line and your student will be late.  Our other issue is the car line is being held up by parents dropping off and picking up students on Prairie Road.  There is no student drop off or pickup on Prairie Road.  This brings the exiting traffic flow from the school to a standstill.  More importantly, there are no sidewalks on Prairie Road leaving students to walk in the road.  Please do not drop off or pickup students on Prairie Road.  Parents, thank you for your patience.  Our bus routes are becoming better, also.  It takes about two to four weeks to become efficient because many students who signed up for bus service did not use it and conversely many who did not sign up are now using it.  This creates phantom stops and redirecting bus stops to accommodate everyone.  Again, thank you for your patience.  We will get everyone on.  It’s going to be a terrific year!
